J FENCE

JFENCE and Nipsey.jpg

I've always been into music. Playing my first song on the keyboard, by ear, at the age of 6. It was LL cool J's "I Need Love". If it was dancing, singing, even writing, Music has always been apart of who I am. I joined the church choir at the age of 9. Started a musical group at 15 years old, The same year I wrote my very first song. By 18 I had my first music deal, and By 20 I was touring.

Seemingly, I was doing what I loved, but something was missing. It had no substance, no real meaning. I searched for other ways to fill that void. I tried women, drinking, drugs, anything I could get my hands on to try and fix what was wrong in my life. I needed to get back to the source. I needed love. Not the love LL Cool J was talking about. I was missing the love of Christ in my life. One day after being on tours and just finishing my first album. My Group member and I called it quits musically, and after a few years hiatus, Fence Music was born.

The idea of "Fence Music" spawns from the scripture Matthew 6:24 (...you can't serve God and Money) Fence music is about accountability. It simple gives people an outlet to choose a side.  It reminds us that being cool and popular in God's eye is more important than what the world thinks about us. The goal is, be talented enough, while speaking the language of the youth and young adults. God wants to reach us all and this is what he’s giving to me. It's praise and Worship mixed in with Hip Hop. I've always been someone who wanted to spread Joy and Love and God has given me that opportunity through Fence Music and I would love to share it with you.
